Mountain Goat Beer

Mountain Goat Beer Pty Ltd,
56 Crown Street,
RICHMOND. Vic. 3121

Web Address:

Mountain Goat Beer has been around for a few years now, but not until very recently did it have its own brewery. Until early this year Mountain Goat used the surplus capacity of an existing Victorian microbrewery (Grand Ridge at Mirboo North) to produce its beer. The company now has its very own brewery in the Melbourne suburb of Richmond. When AGBD visited Mountain Goat in February, the first batch of Richmond-brewed Hightail Ale was in production.

The new Mountain Goat brewery came from the Geebung Polo Club in Auburn which closed last year. It gives the company far more capacity than was possible under the arrangement with Grand Ridge, and allows them to supply far more good beer to Melbourne drinkers. In fact, in addition to Mountain Goat's first beer, Hightail Ale, the brewery will soon release a second, a Pale Ale.

You can find out more about the brewery, its beers, and where to get them, from the Mountain Goat website.

  • Hightail Ale
A full-flavoured English style 'real ale', produced using a London ale yeast, and a blend of Australian pale and crystal malts which give it a coppery red colour. Cascade hops are used for bittering and flavour. Hightale Ale is naturally carbonated and bottle conditioned.
