General:
This 800 litre, wood-clad brewery formerly operated in one of the
Firkin brew-pubs in Great Britain, and was re-installed in the basement of
Sydney's Macquarie Hotel late in 2004. It was officially opened by the
NSW Minister for Gaming and Racing in February 2005.
Beers:
- Pilsner (5.0% abv)
A light-coloured, dry beer, with considerable body. Bottom fermented and filtered. Hopped only with Czech Saaz hops.
- Pale Ale (4.5% abv)
A top-fermented, unfiltered ale, featuring East Kent aroma hops.
- Wheat Beer (4.4% abv)
An unfiltered, top-fermented beer, made with 50% malted wheat. Features banana and clove flavours (produced by the yeast acting on the wheat malt).
- Dark Beer (4.6% abv)
A southern-German style dark lager, bottom fermented and filtered. The dark colour and burnt flavour are derived from roasted grain.
