General:
This new pub brewery
has been in operation since October 2000 in the recently refurbished Cheers
Tavern (formerly the infamous International Hotel; don't be put off by
the external appearance which remains uninviting). The brewery is a brand
spanking new 600L DME outfit, part of which is installed behind glass in
the main drinking area of the tavern, where it is visible to drinkers.
When two AGBD reviewers visited the tavern recently, three beers were
on the menu. All are brewed without added sugar.
Beers:
Clancy's
Pale Ale (4.5%) Fine malty
palate with plenty of bitterness.
Ned Kelly's
Irish Red Ale (5%)
Creamy
rich Irish Red Ale with a deep copper colour. Full malt flavour with a
light aromatic hop finish.
Indian
Chief Wheat Beer (4%)
Light but complex wheat beer brewed from barley, wheat, corn and honey.
