RED HILL SOUTH
The Red Hill Brewery at Red Hill South on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula commenced operation in April 2005 (after a long battle with unenlightened local authorities over planning approval). Owners David and Karen Golding have an 800 litre brewhouse and produce a range of ales and lagers. Their Scotch Ale (5.8%) won a gold medal, as well as a 'Best in Class', at the 2006 AIBA. Red Hill Brewery has its own hopyard; five varieties of organically-grown hops (Hallertauer, Tettnanger, Golding (of course), Willamette, and Pride of Ringwood) are grown and dried on-site for use in Red Hill beers.
In addition to beer, food is an important part of the Red Hill Brewery experience. The Goldings are committed to serving 'real food' at their Red Hill Brewery Eatery; only local and home-grown produce is used, and the menu has been designed to complement the Red Hill beers.
